Fort Meade: Patterson Park
Friday, July 3: Fort Meade kicks off the holiday weekend early with a full day of celebration at Patterson Park, 9th St. NE, on Friday, July 3. The fun starts at 3 p.m. with a Youth Fishing Tournament running through 5 p.m., open to kids 10 and under and under 16, with prizes awarded for largest fish in each age division. Registration is at 3 p.m., entry is free, and participants should bring their own rods, poles, and bait. Proof of age is required and parents must be present to sign a waiver.
The main Independence Day Celebration follows from 5 to 9:30 p.m. with music, games, prizes, food trucks, a golf cart parade, and fireworks. It’s a full evening of small-town community spirit in the Historic Fort City, and a great way to get the Fourth weekend started.
