FDOT Road Work Hits Polk County the Week of July 26: Here’s What Might Affect Your Commute

Polk County drivers are facing a busy week on the roads. The Florida Department of Transportation’s District One RoadWatch Report No. 30, released July 23, lists more than two dozen active construction and maintenance projects across the county for the week of July 26 through Aug. 1, 2026.

Projects range from routine resurfacing and signal upgrades to a full road closure on S.R. 60 west of Lake Wales beginning July 26, major interchange work on I-4 in Lakeland, and construction along U.S. 98 in the Bartow and Highland City corridor.

Speeding fines are doubled in all active work zones. Drivers can check real-time traffic conditions at FL511.com or visit SWFLRoads.com for project-specific updates.
