Several roads across Polk County are closed or restricted this week for utility and infrastructure work. Here’s what drivers need to know.
Wahneta (Winter Haven) — Avenue A East at Fourth Street East
The intersection of Avenue A East and Fourth Street East in Wahneta is closed daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday, June 15, for underground conduit connection work as part of a Polk Regional Water Cooperative project. The road reopens overnight between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. Detour options: traffic on Fourth Street East west of the closure is rerouted to Rifle Range Road. Traffic on Avenue A East south of the closure is detoured west on Fifth Street East to Rifle Range Road. Traffic approaching from the east on Fourth Street East is rerouted north through the Lake Gwyn Park entrance road, then west on Second Street East. polkfl
Poinciana — Hillsborough Court
The 1348-1332 block of Hillsborough Court in Poinciana, beginning at Saint Cloud Road, remains closed to through traffic for water main and sewer extension repair work. The road was expected to reopen at 6 p.m. Friday, June 12. Residents should verify reopening before traveling that route. Davenport — FDC Grove Road and Holly Hill Grove Road Two
A 1.5-mile stretch of FDC Grove Road in Davenport is closed to through traffic from Minute Maid Ramp Road One to Holly Hill Tank Road through Aug. 10 for road reconstruction. Holly Hill Grove Road Two is also closed between FDC Grove Road and Vervain Avenue/Sedgewick Drive. Residents can still access their homes. Winter Haven — Multiple Streets, Lane Closures Through Mid-July
Periodic lane closures began June 8 and are expected to run five to six weeks across multiple streets in Winter Haven due to routine manhole cleaning and sliplining work. Flaggers are directing traffic throughout the work zone. Affected streets include portions of Broxey Court NE, Avenue R NE, Avenue S NE, Sears Avenue NE, Lake Maude Drive, Edwin Street NE, and 6th Street NE, among others. Winter Haven Daily
Winter Haven — City Reminds Drivers to Follow Work Zone Rules
The city issued a reminder this week that posted closures, cones and maintenance of traffic routes are not suggestions. They protect drivers, pedestrians, construction crews and nearby property. Plan extra travel time through any active work zone. Winter Haven Daily
