SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Vice president JD Vance Heading to Polk County Oct. 1 for Midterm Rally at Sun ‘n Fun

Vice President JD Vance is heading to Polk County, where he is scheduled to headline a midterm rally in Lakeland on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Skylight Hangar A on the Sun ‘n Fun campus. The rally comes about a month before the Nov. 3 election.

Doors open at 9 a.m., with the event scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Skylight Hangar A is at 3985 Laird Blvd. in Lakeland, on the campus that hosts the annual Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo at Lakeland Linder International Airport.

The rally is paid for by Trump 47 Committee Inc., a joint fundraising committee made up of Never Surrender, the Republican National Committee, Save America and the federal accounts of dozens of state Republican parties, including Florida’s, according to the event’s sign-up page.

Tickets are available through the sign-up form at events.gop.com, with a limit of four tickets per sign-up. The page states that providing a phone number means consenting to recurring calls and text messages from the committees involved, and that donations may be solicited.

The Polk County stop follows two rallies featuring Vance in other states this month.

Vance spoke Sept. 18 at a Republican National Committee midterm rally at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he campaigned alongside Republican candidates for governor and Congress. Three days later, he rallied at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, N.C., in support of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michael Whatley.

Vice President Vance also serves as chairman of the Republican National Committee’s finance committee. His last reported Florida trip was in January, when he attended private Republican National Committee fundraisers in Naples and Miami.

Security Measures May Affect Roads

Vice presidential visits often bring security measures that affect nearby traffic. During Vance’s January visit to Naples, the Secret Service confirmed road restrictions and closures, and the Federal Aviation Administration restricted airspace over Naples Airport. No road closure information for the Lakeland event has been announced as of Sept. 26. This story will be updated as details are released.
