Making Main Street safe, brick by brick

Motorists driving downtown this past Saturday and Sunday had to make a detour at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Main Street, as barricades prevented further travel on Main Street while workers labored to repair the brick crosswalk.

The reason the work was necessary, said one of the three workers at the site, was that the ground beneath the brick crosswalk had developed depressions and thus had to be releveled before the bricks could be reinstalled.
