CareerSource Polk Names Nilda Blanco Interim Executive Director After Commissioners Remove CEO
Nilda Blanco has been appointed interim executive director of CareerSource Polk, Polk County confirmed Wednesday, filling the vacancy created when county commissioners voted last week to temporarily remove the workforce agency’s president and chief executive without pay and removed her access to emails, meetings, and buildings.
Blanco has served since November 2025 as a business engagement consultant and project leader at CareerSource Florida, the state organization that oversees Florida’s network of 21 local workforce boards, according to a resume the county provided to The Citrus Tea News.
Before that she spent nearly 13 years at CareerSource Central Florida in Orlando, leaving in October 2025 as senior vice president of strategic initiatives. She previously held director roles there in workforce operations, business intelligence, policy and planning, quality assurance and organizational compliance.
Blanco worked in Polk County from 2004 to 2012 for Henkels and McCoy Training Services, rising from compliance manager to regional manager. Earlier in her career she managed youth services programs in Connecticut, served as an aide to the mayors of Hartford and New Britain, and worked as a copy editor at The Hartford Courant and Newsday.
She holds a master of public administration from Capella University and bachelor’s degrees in journalism and mass media and in communication from Rutgers University. She is a Florida Sterling Council examiner and a Six Sigma Black Belt, and she developed the first business engagement training program CareerSource Florida offered to the state’s local workforce boards. She is founder and principal consultant of Nilda Blanco Consulting.
Blanco’s appointment follows a Sept. 1 vote by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners adopting a resolution that temporarily removed Stacy Campbell-Domineck as president and chief executive officer without compensation, pending an independent governance review. Commissioner Michael Scott moved the resolution and Commissioner Rick Wilson seconded it. The motion passed.
