Several roads across Polk County are closed or experiencing lane restrictions this week due to utility work, road reconstruction, and routine maintenance. Here’s what drivers need to know.
Wahneta (Winter Haven) — Avenue A East and Fourth Street East
The intersection of Avenue A East and Fourth Street East in Wahneta is closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Monday, June 15 for underground conduit connection work. The closure is part of a Polk Regional Water Cooperative project. Detour routes are in place: drivers on Fourth Street East west of the closure should take Rifle Range Road; those on Avenue A East from the south should go west on Fifth Street East to Rifle Range Road; and drivers approaching from the east should head north on the Lake Gwyn Park entrance road, then west on Second Street East. Poinciana — Hillsborough Court
A section of Hillsborough Court in Poinciana remains closed to through traffic until 6 p.m. Friday, June 12 for water main and sewer extension repair work. Davenport — FDC Grove Road and Holly Hill Grove Road Two
A 1.5-mile section of FDC Grove Road from Minute Maid Ramp Road One to Holly Hill Tank Road remains closed for road reconstruction through Aug. 10. Holly Hill Grove Road Two is also closed between FDC Grove Road and Vervain Avenue/Sedgewick Drive. Residents can still access their homes. Haines City — 10th Street North (status uncertain — may have reopened)
10th Street North between Patterson Road and Bates Road was closed for underground wastewater conduit improvement work as part of a Haines City Utility project. Winter Haven — Multiple Streets, Lane Closures Through Mid-July

Lakeland — Resurfacing on Multiple Streets
The City of Lakeland is milling and resurfacing several streets through mid-June. Work active this week includes South New York Avenue from Lenox Street to Palmetto Street (through June 11), Cheverly Drive east and west (through June 12), Canyon Lake Point (through June 12), and Kells Court (through June 12). Lakeland — SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard), Lane Restrictions
FDOT construction continues on SR 33/Lakeland Hills Boulevard from Parkview Place to north of Granada Street. One lane in each direction remains open. Lakeland — I-4 at Kathleen Road (Exit 31)
The westbound I-4 on-ramp at Kathleen Road (Exit 31) may experience nighttime and overnight closures this week as part of the CSX Bridge over I-4 replacement project.
