Old Bartow Lake Wales Road at State Road 60 Closes Sept. 8 for Three Weeks of Intersection Work

Old Bartow Lake Wales Road will close at the State Road 60 intersection in Bartow at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and Polk County does not expect it to reopen until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, a closure of just over three weeks.

The road will be closed to traffic through the Old Bartow Lake Wales Road and State Road 60 intersection while crews widen the roadway. The county’s Roads and Drainage Division says the work is meant to improve how traffic moves from Old Bartow Lake Wales Road onto State Road 60.

Traffic will be detoured on Logistics Parkway and Old Bartow Lake Wales Road. The county is asking residents to plan alternate routes for the duration of the closure.

This is the second county closure on that stretch of Old Bartow Lake Wales Road this year. A segment about 1,700 feet east of the Logistics Parkway intersection closed in March for water main pipe installation work.

Drivers headed for State Road 60 from the Logistics Parkway corridor should build in extra time through the end of the month. Polk County notes that all dates and times are subject to change based on conditions in the field. The Roads and Drainage Division can be reached at 863-535-2200.
