Polk County Public Schools announces principal changes for 2026-27

Polk County Public Schools is heading into the 2026-27 school year with new administrators in leadership at nearly 20 campuses across the county, according to the Lakeland Ledger.

The district recently announced the following principal assignments:

Elementary Schools

  • Alta Vista Elementary, Elizabeth Munoz
  • Blake Academy, Albert Cummings
  • Elbert Elementary, Deneece Weaver
  • Floral Ave Academy, Shelly Camp
  • Highland City Elementary, Ruth Reimer
  • Purcell Elementary, Luis Rios

Middle Schools

  • Denison Middle, Billy Washington
  • Kathleen Middle, Derek Hicks
  • Lake Marion Creek Middle, Rebecca Pierce
  • Lakeland Highland Middle, Jennifer Martinez
  • Stambaugh Middle, Stephanie Huber
  • Union Academy, John Hill
  • Westwood Middle, Myra Richardson

High Schools

  • Haines City High School, Eric Hutchinson
  • Harrison School for the Arts, Gina Monacelli
  • Lake Region High, Damien Jones
  • McLaughlin Academy, Ladreda Atkins
  • Winter Haven High, Ronda Cotter

The Citrus Tea has submitted a media request to the district regarding assistant principal reassignments for the coming school year and is awaiting a response.

If you would like your voice to be heard, you can email The Polk County School Board, or attend the next work session at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, followed by a regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the auditorium at the main PCPS office, 1915 S. Floral Ave., Bartow.

Polk State College names a new president

Meetings will be broadcast live on the PCPS YouTube channel as well as on Comcast channel 7, Frontier channel 45 and Spectrum channel 642. Information on agendas, schedules, and security procedures is available at polkschoolsfl.com/about/meetings.
