Meet your Polk County School Board and School Officials

Last week, we introduced the Polk County Board of Commissioners. Here’s a quick look the Polk County Public School (PCPS) Leadership. PCPS is governed by a seven-member elected School Board. Members represent different districts across the county and are responsible for overseeing school operations, approving the district’s annual budget, managing district property, and appointing the District Superintendent.

Superintendent, Frederick Heid

Frederick Heid, Superintendent of Schools was unanimously selected by the School Board in April 2021. He oversees one of the 30 largest school districts in the United States, serving more than 117,000 students. [email protected] | 863-534-0521

District 1, Dr. William Allen Associate Professor of Interactive and Game Design at Florida Southern College. Elected 2020. Term expires November 2028. [email protected] | 863-546-8141

If you would like your voice to be heard by the Polk County School Board, you can email them or attend the next work session at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, followed by a regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the auditorium at the main PCPS office, 1915 S. Floral Ave., Bartow.

Meetings will be broadcast live on the PCPS YouTube channel as well as on Comcast channel 7, Frontier channel 45 and Spectrum channel 642. Information on agendas, schedules, and security procedures is available at polkschoolsfl.com/about/meetings.
